Biden’s cowardly failure to speak up to the brutality in Israel shows the power of the pro-Israel lobby in Washington. But it’s not as great as it once was when no politician dared speak up. Now we see elected representatives who are themselves committed to the cause of Palestinian rights. The tide is changing. No more blank checks for the Israeli government:
Progressive Democrats on Monday called out the Biden administration for promoting Israel’s right to self-defense as the Israeli military pummeled parts of Gaza with airstrikes in response to rocket attacks from militant groups.
The Israeli airstrikes killed 26 people, including nine children, per the Associated Press. Most of the rockets launched by militants in Gaza were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, but two Israelis were killed. Hundreds of the rockets were fired by Hamas, which controls Gaza, and other militant groups.
In the early morning of March 6, Brooks was headed home when she noticed emergency lights trailing her on I-495.
Believing it was an ambulance in distress, she pulled over on the shoulder of a highway exit ramp close to her home in Alexandria, Virginia, about 15 minutes from where she had eaten dinner, Brooks said in an interview with NBC News on Tuesday.
It was sometime past 2 a.m.
Virginia State Trooper Robert G. Hindenlang was instead pulling her over, only she said she wasn’t sure why despite asking him.
A state prosecutor later concluded there was no basis for the traffic stop.
Yet, Brooks found herself being pulled over in the dark and cold.
"To my surprise, it immediately escalated," said Brooks, a 34-year-old Black woman who works for the Department of Defense.
Two years before the 2020 election, the conspiracy that Donald Trump won the election was part of a plot cooked up by a Texas Republican businessman, reported a Washington Post exposé.
…Indeed, it was a coordinated effort among many Trump allies and lawyers. They weren’t perpetrated by experts or insiders, as the report explained, it was conservative activists and Trump pals who pushed a company called the Allied Security Operations Group (ASOG) to “find” the evidence “where none existed.”
“Trusted messengers” should have been done from the very beginning. During WWII celebrities were used to build support for the war. The pandemic cost more lives than were lost during that war:
There’s “no doubt” the U.S. has undercounted its number of deaths from Covid-19, which now stand at over 581,000, President Joe Biden’s top medical adviser said.
But Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that a University of Washington analysis published May 6 that the true toll is probably over 900,000 is “a bit more than I would have thought.”
“Sometimes the models are right on line, sometimes they’re a bit off,” he said.
With the U.S. vaccination pace slowing, Fauci said using “trusted messengers” will be an important way to overcome hesitancy in some communities and get the nation closer to an 80% vaccination rate.
Random gunfire seems to be on the rise. No one is safe. There are more guns than people out there in America.
A 4-year-old girl shopping for toys and two women bystanders were shot and injured Saturday in Times Square, the New York Police Department said.
The afternoon shooting occurred at West 45th Street and 7th Avenue in the city’s tourism zone. No suspects were in custody but a person of interest was being sought for questioning, police Commissioner Dermot Shea said in a news conference.
“The perpetrators of this senseless violence are being tracked down and the NYPD will bring them to justice,” Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted.
Police described the three as unintended targets struck when a dispute between four men nearby erupted in gunfire. An officer who was nearby heard four to five shots, the commissioner said.
It was predictable and not a coincidence. Amazon is a deathtrap. No unions, no safety:
An Amazon.com Inc. warehouse worker died Thursday after collapsing at a company facility in Bessemer, Alabama, that was the site of an effort earlier this year to unionize the workforce.
“We’re deeply saddened by the passing of a member of our team, and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his loved ones during this difficult time,” Amazon said Friday in an emailed statement when asked about the death.
The worker was taken to a hospital after being found in the bathroom of the warehouse, according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified because they aren’t authorized to discuss the situation.
Amazon employees at the Bessemer facility voted 1,798 to 738 against being represented by the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union with 505 challenged votes uncounted in a seven week mail-ballot election that ended in March. The union is disputing the election results. A hearing on the matter began Friday and is scheduled to continue next week.
Isn’t there a crime in here. Very sinister. You can imagine what would have happened if Trump had won re-election:
The Justice Department under former President Trump obtained phone records of Washington Post reporters and attempted to get access to their email records surrounding their reporting on Russia’s efforts to meddle in the 2016 presidential election, according to a new report.
The Washington Post reported Friday that reporters Ellen Nakashima and Greg Miller, who still work for the paper, and Adam Entous, who previously reported for it, received letters from the Department of Justice (DOJ) saying they were “hereby notified that pursuant to legal process the United States Department of Justice received toll records associated with the following telephone numbers for the period from April 15, 2017 to July 31, 2017.”
The letters included the reporters’ work, home or cellphone numbers covering the time period detailed in the letter. They also said the DOJ sought “non content communication records” for reporters’ work email accounts but that the department never got the information.
I’m starting to wonder if Biden, and the Democrats, are scared of Trump. They be should going after him with both barrels. Robert Mueller chickened out. There are literally dozens of crimes Trump, and his family, have committed that should be prosecuted on the federal level. So far nothing. If it’s not cowardice, what’s the excuse;
Former President Trump’s ex-personal attorney Michael Cohen and Stephanie Clifford, the porn star known as Stormy Daniels, blasted the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for dropping its probe into whether Trump illegally made hush money payments to women.
The FEC closed its investigation into the payments after failing to find that Trump or his campaign “knowingly and willfully” violated campaign finance law when he paid Daniels $130,000 just before the 2016 election to keep her from disclosing an alleged affair years prior.
Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison for lying to Congress, tax evasion and other charges related to the payment.
The subways in NYC go from bad to worse. And the politicians fiddle while our citizens suffer.
The latest incident in strings of violent attacks on New York City subway riders and workers has left a train conductor hospitalized in critical condition and calls for the city to “do something” have grown louder in recent weeks.
Cassandra Sykes, speaking out in the video released by the transit workers union, says her nephew Girard Sykes was slashed on the J train near Fulton and Crescent Streets Wednesday night.
“It is not safe for the transit workers or the public to ride trains or buses,” Skyes said.
